چکیده

Circuit simulation is an important step in electronic circuit design. Using a configurable architecture to speed up simulation is known to result in more timely outcomes. This paper aims at studying how to map circuits onto such a computer architecture using genetic algorithms. These algorithms are used in many applications relating to circuit design such as circuit partitioning, VLSI layout placement and routing, as well as hardware/software co-synthesis. The use of genetic algorithms to decide about how the mapping process should be done has been suggested elsewhere and is exploited here. In this paper it will be presented how the algorithms have been implemented, and the result of testing procedures conducted on them.

Database Program Mapping onto a Shared-Nothing Multiprocessor Architecture: Minimizing Communication Costs

This paper deals with the minimization of inter-task and inter-processor communication costs in the context of one SQL query mapping onto a sharednothing architecture, as far as the parallel decisional query processing is concerned. After setting both the models of the application handled and the target multiprocessor architecture, a study aimed at minimizing both inter-processor transfer times...

Study of Multiprocessor Architectures for a Hardware Accelerator

This work is intended as an overview on parallel processing and parallel processing techniques and architectures. The principal constraints and design options for the adap-tion of a CAD tool to a general-purpose multiprocessor machine are debated. Sugestions are made as guidelines for a future implementation of the circuit simulator CINNAMON in a multiprocessor environment.

Design methodology for digital signal processing

Improvements in semiconductor integration density and the resulting problem of having to manage designs of increasing complexity is an old one, but still current. The new challenge lies in a new level of architecture heterogeneity, e.g. mixing hard-wired digital circuits with software programmed signal processors on one die. Hence, we are moving by one level of abstraction from semi-custom stan...

Mapping a Battlefield Simulation onto Message-Passing Parallel Architectures*

Perhaps the most critical problem in distributed simulation is that of mapping: without an effective mapping of workload to processors the speedup potential of parallel processing cannot be realized. Mapping a simulation onto a message-passing architecture is especially difficult when the computational workload dynamically changes as a function of time and space; this is exactly the situation f...
